Ike dollars
Besides the face value of $1 are these worth anything?

Re: Ike dollars
I can sell IKE dollars on Craigslist for a 20-25% premium in lots greater than 100.
I like to say they are great for poker and that will get some hits. 65GT350 |
Re: Ike dollars
There's nothing wrong with the "S" minted clad Ike's.

Re: Ike dollars
Why not, they're silver clad coins ?

Re: Ike dollars
Where would the S be?
I can see one has a D under the neckline of the bust, all of the others have something on the neckline of the bust but I can't tell what it is with a large magnifier, it's not a D but I can't tell what it is and the location is different. Where the one D coin is marked the others have no mark in that location. |
Re: Ike dollars
S would be where the D is.......S for San Francisco mint, D for Denver, blank is Philadelphia......if my coin collecting days as a kid serve me.....

Re: Ike dollars
Very good memory Andy. If my memory serves (and might not be as good as Andy's) the pre 71 SanFran Ikes are 90%. Double check though. One of my early collecting mistakes, thought all Ikes were 90%. Darn, $12 wasted :bawling:

Re: Ike dollars
I've been using my Ikes to try to teach my small children how to count. They're definitely not choking hazards! :cheerful:

Re: Ike dollars
They began striking Ike dollars in 1971. The "s" mint dollars were struck as collectors items in 1971, '72, '73, '74, and '76. They contain .3161 oz. of Ag. No coins were struck in '75, and all of the other '71-'76 and all '77 & '78 dollars are copper-nickel composition.
